The Amazing Maize Maze at Queens County Farm Museum

Plus Other Great Events, Year-Round Activities, and How to Volunteer at NYC's Only Working Farm

By Bayside Macaroni Kid September 13, 2026

Fall has officially arrived at Queens County Farm Museum, and the borough's most a-maize-ing tradition is in full swing. The Amazing Maize Maze, sponsored by Con Edison, is New York City's only corn maze, a three-acre living labyrinth carved fresh each year on the Farm's 47 historic acres in Floral Park. This year's design honors America's 250th anniversary and is shaped like the torch of the Statue of Liberty.

When Does the Amazing Maize Maze Run?

Season: Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, November 1, 2026

Regular Hours: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM (last entry at 4:00 PM)

Special Runs: Also open Monday, September 7 and Monday, October 12

The adventure begins with a “Stalk Talk” to help you get oriented, then it's up to your family to find clues, solve puzzles, and make your way to Victory Bridge, where the full vista of the maze is finally revealed. Tickets are sold online in advance through queensfarm.org.

Maze by Moonlight: A Nighttime Twist

For families with older kids (or grown-ups looking for their own fall adventure), Maze by Moonlight lets you navigate the maze after dark using nothing but flashlights, intuition, and a little imagination.

Dates: Saturday, October 10 and Saturday, October 17, 2026

Hours: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (last entry 9:30 PM)

Cost: $20 general admission

And Other Great Events at the Farm

The maze isn't the only reason to visit this season. Queens Farm's full fall lineup includes:

  • Queens Agricultural Fair (October 3–4) — blue-ribbon competitions in livestock, produce, and arts and crafts, plus pie-eating and corn-husking contests, carnival rides, midway games, hayrides, and live music. The Maize Maze is available as a ticket add-on during the Fair.
  • Halloween on the Farm (Friday, October 31, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM) — trick-or-treating at nine candy stations across the farm, Monster Mash dancing, a Halloween-themed hayride, the Pumpkin Patch, a Donut Shop & Cider Booth, spooky ghost stories in the historic Adriance Farmhouse, and maze access included with admission. Tickets: $15 adults, $25 children ages 2–17.

As always, activity dates, times, and prices are subject to change, so double-check queensfarm.org before you head out, especially for ticketed events.

How Can My Family Volunteer at Queens Farm?

From spring through fall, Queens Farm relies on volunteers to help keep the farm running, and roles are open to all experience levels. Since most positions involve outdoor, physical work, dressing for the weather is a must.

  • Farm & Crop Crew — hands-on help with planting, weeding, harvesting, and animal care; some roles offer consistent, recurring weekly shifts
  • Community Compost Program — held Fridays, helping receive and sort public compost drop-offs and maintain the compost piles
  • Maintenance & Operations — as-needed support with light maintenance, organization, and the upkeep of the Farm's historic structures and grounds
  • Education Volunteers — assisting with school programs, tours, and public workshops
  • Special Event Volunteers — supporting festivals like the Agricultural Fair and Halloween on the Farm, from ticket-taking to craft supervision

To get started, all volunteers must complete a seasonal intake form, which helps match you to the right role and shares important safety information. Once that's done, you'll get access to sign up for weekly volunteer shifts.
